Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Groupon. 

I am a member of the HR team, specifically within the Talent Acquisition team, dedicated to recruiting talented candidates for Groupon. My primary focus is on recruitment within the Czech Republic, where we've established a local branch and office since 2023. I became part of the Groupon team in 2023, coinciding with the initiation of hiring activities in the Czech Republic

What does a typical day look like?

Every day is different. Typically, I communicate with hiring managers and candidates throughout the day, conduct pre-screenings and interviews, source candidates on LinkedIn and other platforms, work on internal hiring projects, and collaborate with the Country Manager on labor law-related initiatives within the Czech Republic. 

Can you give us a sneak peek into some exciting projects you are working on?

Every week brings something interesting. From a long-term perspective, I would highlight my enjoyment in seeing our team rapidly progress towards enhancing candidate experience. We excel in handling an incredibly large volume of candidates in a short time, resulting in a high number of successfully filled positions. We are able to hire more than 120 people in a month!

Groupon is going through a unique transformation. What's the most exciting aspect of it?

That every change, even a small one, can have a tremendous impact. I appreciate companies where things move forward swiftly and are led by individuals who embody decisiveness and a focus on the positive outcomes for the company. And that's exactly what Groupon is like.

What has been your proudest moment so far at Groupon?

Filling 21 positions within one month. 

What do your parents think you do?

Haha, even though I've been working in human resources since 2016, I still get the feeling that my parents think I'm just chatting with people and typing away at the computer :) 

What was your first job?

If we count part-time jobs, my first one was at the local library. I was packing books, entering data into the system, and assisting in creating a book catalog. My first 'real' job was with Alza.cz, the largest e-commerce player in the Czech Republic, where I began my career in human resources. 

What is one non-work activity or hobby that you're into? 

I have a passion for growing indoor flowers. I currently have over 250 of them at home, including some rare species. It looks like a jungle in my office! 

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be and why?

If I could choose, I would go for a 'Professional Sleeper.' This job title has been used in a hotel where the 'professional sleeper' tests the comfort of beds by sleeping in a different bed of the hotel each night and then writes a review on their satisfaction. I would choose some beautiful luxury hotel and enjoy my time there. I love sleep!😄

Why should people join Groupon and what is unique about Groupon?

The uniqueness of Groupon lies in its transformation and the speed of change, the rapid decision-making by management, and its ability to function as a cohesive team. There are many talented and extremely intelligent individuals who love their work, breathe for Groupon, and believe in its vision. That's amazing. The multiculturalism and diversity at Groupon are exceptionally intriguing. There are few positions in the Czech Republic with such impact and scope as we currently have at Groupon.

What qualities do you believe are essential in a team member, especially in our current phase of transformation?

Ownership, trust, adaptability.

Book or Podcast? Got a favorite?

I love books by Richard David Bach and Jostein Gaarder. My favorite book is 'The Solitaire Mystery,' and I have read it 8 times.

Morning person or night owl?

Definitely a night owl 🦉

#1 on your bucket list?

I don't have a bucket list 🙂

Last thing you cooked?

Pasta with spinach and cheese sauce. Simple but tasty dish.

What series are you currently binging?

Gossip Girl - even though I watched the entire Gossip Girl series four times already!

Favorite city you have visited?

That's a tough question. Every city has its own charm. Most recently, Marbella caught my attention, where my husband and I spent three weeks. 

What is your karaoke song?

Oasis Wonderwall. Don't wish to hear me sing! 🙈

What is your guilty pleasure?

Definitely binge-watching! I watched Money Heist in a week when I was sick. I enjoy drama series on Netflix like Love is Blind, Circle, or Asian series such as Alice in Borderland or Squid Game. I liked Queen's Gambit, The Gentlemen, The Elite, and so on. Need a recommendation? Just ask! 😀
