However, his true strength lies in his proactive and positive demeanour, coupled with his ability to independently solve problems while collaborating effectively with team members. His historical knowledge of our systems adds further value, making him an indispensable asset to our development efforts."
Rapid and Fire Questions
If you could swap lives with any fictional character for a day, who would you choose and why?
I’ve always been interested in the history of Piracy, so if it was just for a day, perhaps Long John or even Jack Sparrow, why not! Sailing around the beautiful Caribbean, and then swapping back before any nastiness occurred!
What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done, and would you do it again?
I’ve walked around Mount Ruapehu in NZ quite a few years ago now, which is quite a large, active volcano on the north island. I got pretty close to the crater and the heat was immense. Would I do it again? From what I understand the likelihood of a large eruption is low, so probably!
If you could have a dinner party with any historical figure, dead or alive, who would you invite and what would you all talk about?
I’d have to say da Vinci (perhaps a cliche...); I find it incredible how he foresaw so many modern inventions that have come to pass (although not quite to his specifications!). I’d probably spend most of the evening trying to understand his inspiration and what drove him to be as prolific as he was. He’d probably find me quite boring!
If you could instantly master any skill or talent, what would it be and why?
Sailing large ocean going, wind powered ships! Having been involved in small boat sailing on lakes when I was younger, I’d love to take that to the next level and learn to sail a yacht across the Mediterranean or similar. It’s a gruelling trip though and you’d need some serious fitness & stamina. I’m not sure I’m cut out for it anymore! If I could click my fingers and level up though, I’d do it!
And finally, what was the last Groupon you bought?
The last Groupon I bought was a short city break to Amsterdam with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We did all the usual touristy things, including the stereotypical photo of us in a giant clog, of course! It was great and an incredibly beautiful city. The hotel was right in the city centre, and very reasonably priced. If you have a spare weekend with no plans, I’d highly recommend it.
