Tell us about your journey to Groupon and what is your role?

I joined Groupon in 2021 as a tech recruiter supporting EMEA region, and in 2023 I was promoted to Senior TA Partner where I now cover everything non-tech. I support tech when needed but predominantly hire in Corporate, Global Operations and Marketing.

What does a typical day look like?

A lot of meetings :) I’m not  a big fan of phone-calls and as the majority of our meetings are virtual, I like to make sure I meet everyone I deal with via video - whether it’s our hiring managers, candidates or my team. 

On top of meetings, there is admin work that goes into sending contracts, ensuring new starters are set up correctly and feeling welcomed on their first day and well.. We like projects so any process that can be improved - we are all about it!

Can you give us a sneak peek into some exciting projects you are working on?

We are implementing a new ATS at the moment so it’s a very exciting and a busy time to be part of TA! Sales in North America is exploding so any Business Development Representatives or Business Development Managers - check it out!

And personally I’ve just hired a brand new AI team in Madrid and finishing up with some finance roles in Warsaw  & Madrid. 

Groupon is going through a unique transformation. What's the most exciting aspect of it?

Growing with it - Groupon is extremely fast paced and can pivot and re-pivot on the daily - learning the skills to thrive within such an environment is not only career building but also character building! We work with stakeholders across the board, from hiring managers to Senior Leadership - no one is out of reach and therefore there is so much scope to learn!

What do your parents think you do?

Something to do with computers and helping people get jobs :)

What’s your favourite Groupon memory? 

I loved representing Groupon at the largest job fair in Valencia! Also meeting up with colleagues, old and new, in Prague earlier this year 💚

What was your first job?

I worked in Dunnes Stores stacking shelves.

What is one non-work activity or hobby that you're into? 

I love the gym so go to classes most mornings before work.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

Grace Gifford - just Google the song ‘Grace’ by Frank & Sean O'Meara, and you would want to meet her too!  

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be and why?

Hypothetically speaking, I would like to be a software developer. That being said, I completed a certificate in Frontend development, which I enjoyed (some parts definitely more than others), but I quickly realized I like talking a lot (which comes in handy in my current role) so...I’ll stick to where I am for now!

On the sales side, we are selling a great product that I really believe in! Everyone talks about how expensive everything is getting - we are bringing quality experiences at a discount!  On the tech side, we work with cutting edge technologies and in general, the people are what make Groupon! 

What qualities do you believe are essential in a team member, especially in our current phase of transformation?

Flexibility, endurance and drive.

Book - my active listening for podcasts (or audio books) is definitely not a strength of mine but give me anything romance/smush to read and I am all in! 📚

Morning 100%! Come 9pm I am in bed!

#1 on your bucket list?

A month in Thailand - cooking lessons, beaches and a few sessions of Muay Thai - just to counteract all the delicious food I would be eating!

Halloumi & veg teriyaki stir-fry

Emily in Paris - fashion, drama and Paris - ready to pack my bags!

Favourite Groupon you've purchased?

Cycled Brooklyn Bridge, or I’ve done the off Bottomless Brunch in Dublin

Favorite city you have visited?

So hard to choose - I loved Cartagena, Colombia - the colour, the beaches, the fruit and the culture 

Favorite emoji?

🫶 and 👀 that being said my Gen Z cousins have told me I need a course in using emojis!🙈

What is your guilty pleasure?

I have so many - going to bed extra early with a book, having a bath with a glass of vino and Netflix, Millionaire Shortcakes 🤤
